Crete Thrapsathiri-Vilana Blend

What a thick, challenging and wild concoction the Wizard of Crete has produced. I found it quite complicated to smell or taste the character of the wine through the reduction, oxidation and volatility, all of which which stayed with the wine well after decanting. Felt very much like a rancid apple cider. I’m sure with the right food this wine would come alive though

A Greek red wine that could easily be confused for Barolo. Makes me even more proud to be a Greek!

2009. Waxy (beeswax), mandarin peel, pleasantly oxidative, with a long tangy finish. Very cool interplay of assertive and complex characteristics. Winner.

Sweet and savory plummy nose. Dry. Old Piedmont on the palate

👄 orange peel, lime pith, olive oil cake

Rubbery tangerine. Delicately yeasty and funky. A crisp orange wine.
