Vieilles Vignes Côte-Rôtie Syrah
A very, very different wine from the 2012. Took me aback how different. I can't say it was quite as thrilling, but the 2012 was one of the best young wines I've ever had, so that's a tough bar. This one is all red-toned in its fruit complexion and has some fairly muscular tannin in the foreground. It still has those succulent non-fruit Cote-Rotie flavors like dry-aged beef and something almost pie-crusty, but it took some time to unwind.
