Quiet a surprise to find a medium bodied Monastrell from Jumilla for 14.99 on the shelf with such good balance and lean flavors. You might think Monastrell is rustic or too explosive but this one falls in a different universe. Somehow like a youthful Bandol at a more convenient price

Squid ink color with black fruit and pepper on nose. Overly astringent tannins for my palate. Needs serious animal protein pairing to tame them.
