Rodney's Vineyard Petite Sirah
Inky, liquid-midnight velvet in a glass. Aromas of blackberry, leather, faint black olive, and fine oak on the nose. Supple mouthfeel, ripe with deep red/black berries and plum. Creates sapidity under my tongue, which makes me thirsty for more! Rounds out on the palate with lightly toasted oak, followed by a long, smooth finish. Youthful, but surprisingly mature for its age ;) We decanted it for about 30 minutes, then took a chance trying it with our first taste of bison burger (avocado mash, bacon, and sweet potato slices for a bun). The fruit came forward, but the finish was a little too boozy... perhaps a Merlot would've suited the meal better. Still, I love this wine!
