A dark, beautifully blood-hued red. Nose takes me into the realm of rich pulpy red fruit, vanilla pod, smoke, and earth. On the palate, a beautiful complement of tannins and ripe-raspberry acids serve to offset the rich oak, vanilla and chocolate character of the barrel. A really beautiful harmony. The finish is a sustained marriage of acid and sweet, aged barrel character - ends up on the side of refreshing and inviting you into another sip. A beautiful, balanced, sensuous Rioja.

Stunning. The nose packs in cherry pie, raisins, chocolate, and baking spices. The palate reveals a beautiful, lively acidity upfront which mellows into the rich, barrel-influenced notes hinted at on the nose- vanilla, stewed fruit, blackberry cordial. The finish is not cloying despite all the rich flavours on the palate- the acidity persists and prepares you for the next sip. Can’t believe this cost me 8€!
