Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

Very average

Smoky bacon fat. Very silky, esp for the pricepoint. One of my faves for under $30 retail.

Baked plums, dried herbs, peppery with slight burnt rubber aromas. Bit of a rough mouthfeel but decent finish.

This was the Blanc which is mostly Marsanne and Roussanne

Just spot on as always with Guigal. Not a lot of surprises but a well-balanced and elegant white wine

Tasting:
Eye : Dark and deep colour.
Nose : Red fruits, cherry and strawberry with delicate oak aromas.
Palate : A structured tannic wine. Aromas of blackcurrant buds and vanilla.
Overall : Remarkable freshness with notable and refined tannins to due long oak ageing.

Super tight at first but opened to a really soft supple wine. Needs a few more years.

Lovely wine with sweet fruit. Lovely spice notes. Well balanced with a long finish. decanting helps. Cherries and black fruit.
