E. Guigal
Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend
Côtes du Rhône, Southern Rhône, Rhône, France

Found a few bottles of this Syrah-heavy CdR, by 1995 Guigal was making over 1 million bottles of this gem that I paid less than $10/bottle for on release, this bottle had 2-3 inches of ullage, suspect cork seemed glued into the bottle neck, yet fresh, crisp acidity, a little Brett, but great balance, medium-bodied, this wine will still evolve, really lovely, even though it’s still ultimately a CdR to drink on a Tuesday night with grilled sausage!!

Red fruits, meaty, maybe a touch of Brett, playing way about station, it's always amazed me how good Guigal's CdR can be, even at age 20!

Wow, talk about performing above reasonable expectations, this is still quite amazing for a 20-year-old CdR, not quite as rich as the 1988-1990 trio, but still quite youthful.

Lovely roasted aromas, mature, solid but not as great as the 1988-1990 trio that I cellared and drank a lot of, but still pretty darn good at age 19!
