E. Guigal
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
Should have waited a couple more years... Had plenty more to sleep. But delicious at 10 years old.

Dec 25th, 2015A little darker and full bodied than I thought this was going to be. This wine poured a dusty rose translucent red color into the glass. The nose was herbal raspberry. The entry was a darker herbal raspberry with a dusty note, clove and sage towards the middle. This wine had a slightly acidic finish. As it sat open, the acidity of the finish really diminished and showed a rather herbal bouquet. If I was blind tasted to this one, I'm not sure that I would have guessed CDP at all. But the slight medicinal, dirty herbal notes all sort of all integrated rather well.

Jul 5th, 2017Fresh bright violet in colour with a earthy, mineral nose. Full-bodied with rather tight tannins initially which soften after about an hour in the glass. Spicy on the palate with dark savoury fruit notes which came out more as it aired.

Apr 16th, 20162005. Tons of red fruit and sour cherry. Still quite tannic - could use a few more years to let those mellow out develop some more of the earthy, funky aromas lurking underneath. Nice herbal notes though.
