2008: poor vintage but showing significant development. Red plum, cherry, earthy, bretty, smokey. White pepper, garrigues. Medium bodied and fresher, with a vibrant acidity and softer tannin. More like a Saint Joseph, bundles of red fruit, red currant, cherry, light spice and smokey oak. Good but not typical powerful Rotie.

Dark ruby dress. Multidimensional nose with juicy black fruits, animal, leather pepper. Delicate and deep mouth. Interesting ending but we are still on a classic, agreed style, without surprise, which today seems outdated in view of the new trends in wine on fruit, purity, biodynamics etc. Something is missing somewhere, especially with regard to the price/prestige!
Robe rubis sombre. Nez multidimensionnel à la fois fruits noirs juteux, cuirs animal, poivré tabac. Bouche délicate et profonde. Finale intéressante mais on est quand même sur un style classique, convenu, sans surprise, qui apparaît aujourd’hui dépassé au regard des nouvelles tendances du vin sur le fruit, la pureté, biodynamie etc. Quelque chose manque quelque part, surtout au regard du prix/prestige!

Nice deep red colour and a particularly enticing blackcurrant nose with a little mocha / pepper. The taste is somewhat floral but a little lightweight - probably reflecting the weak vintage.
