Holy crap this is good! Fine coco and black currants on the nose lead into dark, plummy goodness. On the palette, tannins are big, but not huge, caressing the tongue as much as coating it. Flavors of cherry, tobacco, and baking spices dominate and linger for minutes after each slurp. Yum!!

Nov 18th, 2019Beautiful new vintage! The latest VR Special is true to all the vintages before it, smooth/reposed, easy to sip. Tobacco, cherry, vanilla and cola notes mingle divinely and linger sweetly... yum, just yum!

Oct 7th, 2019Wow!! Huge, dusty blackberries, black cherries, and tobacco with notes of plum, anise, white pepper, and pleasing herbaceousness. This wine could easily go another 5-10 years. It’s fantastic!

Jan 26th, 2019Tannins on this are intense, but smooth (as usual). Big, leathery red fruit dominates initially but as that fades interesting mineral notes and dusty texture linger among the slowly ebbing fruit. This is very young still. In 4-8 years, this will be mind blowing. :)
