A tornado of intriguing spices, smoke, pepper, and brambly dark fruits in the glass. Bringing it to the palate results in an overwhelming rush of jammy fruit and smoke then fades to an irony bloody game. After decanting for a while the aftertaste changed more to a dark grainy baking chocolate. Tannins were a medium+ bit were disguised nicely by the fruit. Acidity trailed a little at a solid medium, offsetting the balance slightly, but I thoroughly enjoyed this wine.

Aggressive and spicy, even for a wine that's spent almost 10 years in the bottle. A whopping 17.5% alcohol is actually well contained within brambly fruit, earth and mineral notes, and a hint of smoke and meat. Minimal sediment and a pleasant brick color also show through.
