Dubost
Paso Robles Syrah
Had this in a blind tasting and vacillated between cote rotie and Cornas. A real surprise.

Mar 6th, 2015Rich layers of chocolate jump out first, followed by sun drenched and stewed black and red fruit. There's also some saw dust and dried herbs. The palette is surprisingly fresh, both tart and acidic at first, winding down into slightly bitter chocolate, raisins, prunes, beets and burnt firewood. A hint of smoked meat also can't be denied - this one really comes at you from a bunch of different angles.

Apr 26th, 2017Love this winery! I actually enjoyed this one more when it was first opened - after a bit of breathing time it started to develop some Zin characteristics. Still, smoky and robust to begin with. You could start to taste that Paso Robles heat the more it sat out.
