Dr. Deinhard
Forster Deidesheim Riesling
Brine, cold steel, blue slate, liquified minerals, quince and sea salt. This is raw Riesling power...love it!

Dec 31st, 2016I had craved a laser-beam acidity driven riesling from Germany for a long while and... This is not precisely what that was 🤔
The nose is unmistakably German riesling on the nose : petroly, lemon peel, freshly squeezed lemon juice, a limestone thing in the rear too. The palate didn't show a lot of acidity upon opening which was a bit disappointing but somehow it is stretching with more acid drive with some time in the glass (about an hour). It's not intensely zingy but there a nice tanginess to it now. Freshly squeezed lemon juice all around, and a tiny chalky mouthfeel that coat he mouth in the end, leaving a persistent finish that's quite nice. Not the zingiest, laser-beam like acid-driven riesling but still enjoyable.

The nose shows lemon zest, pineapple and a petrol note. The palate is made of a massive acid backbone, some lemony and yellow fruits notes all along, it's vibrant and almost tensed and finishes with a nice long zesty and fresh note that holds for a while. Super dry Riesling that's true to its type. First one of a list of 8 German rieslings I recently bought to study some more 😊
