OK everybody knows I'm a sucker for Spanish wine but this Portuguese Douro was really a nice surprise. The grape varietals are Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao. You win a Berlitz free course in Portugese if you know what these are in Inglese. Regardless it drinks like a good Rioja with good berries balanced by oak and vanilla notes. Deeper than some of the Portugese Reds I've had with less acidity this will satisfy when paired with lamb or a light tomato pasta.
