Happy new year to all of you!
Dark ruby in color with a brick rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, earth, leather, chocolates, peppercorn, spices and vinaigrette.
Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, earth, wood, licorice, vanilla, spices, peppercorn, smoke, chocolates, mocha and coffee.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and black pepper.
This 9 year old Mendoza Malbec, is very enjoyable now, by itself or with food. Well balanced with nice complexity. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (30 minutes).
I had the 2014 not too long ago and this was better.
I paired it with light appetizers.
Aged for 15 months in Oak barrels.
14.8% alcohol by volume.
