Chucked bottle prematurely, so I think was a 2019. Saumur reds, ie, in this case 100% cab franc seemed to have bulked up the last few years. Yes, it’s a richer, deeper wine but does the ripeness suit the varietal, at least in the Loire? Here I would say yes. Plenty for Chinon lovers- gobs of red fruits, like crushed raspberries & cranberries, but bay leaf too on back end- it’s a nice longish finish.

May 14th, 2021Day 2: Cola and dark cherry nose, with graphite and smoke. Underripe currant leaking out as well. Gritty tannin with cranberry and cherry fruit. Chalky minerality. Lingers well, plenty of dimension.
