Quirky wine, but it's got gravitas too. They wanted to make something like an orange wine but didn't have the grapes for it. So this is the inverse of Cote-Rotie, mostly viognier with a bit of syrah for skin tannins and color. The result isn't quite orange wine and definitely isn't rose (the physical color is sort of a deep orange/amber). The "shape tasting" diagram on the label is more of a fun game than a science but it does seem to capture pretty accurately how the white-grape flavors show up on the entry (though obviously in a deeper tone than, say, the straight vioginier) but then the red berry flavors take over and turn the complexion even deeper.
