Purchased at the winery during visit in 2015. Wine is classified as Federspiel (between 11.5 and 12.5 ABV), which generally connotes wines that are dry, medium bodied and well balanced. This Gruner is from the Kollmitz vineyard (steep terraced slopes with Danube gravel soil) and is bottled at 12.0% ABV. Pepper and flint on the nose. Green apple and pear fruit, white pepper and smoke, with minerality which shines through. Nice acidity.
