Old vines, 100 years, exposed on the South side of the hill of Cornas, a rarity since most face West. As Vincent told me, the vines have "a lot of maturity," so the stem can be kept. Grown on a 40 percent grade. The stemminess is detectable, with the wine being balanced between vegetal, green characteristics and subtle unripe red fruit. Slight hints of savoriness, but not as much as some from the AOC. Tasted straight from the tank with the winemaker - this will begin bottling one week from today.
