High toned, floral, spiced, loads of pepper and crunchy minerality. Fruit has lost some youthful exuberance, moving more into the background while its earth and perfumed notes come through. Tempts you with contemplation, but just so fun to drink. Wild black and red berry, bay, green and black peppercorns, peach, crushed rocks, wild herbs. Perfect foil for Moroccan rabbit and stewed veggies

With the Syrah bottling, I relearn how simple techniques can yield complex results and how Northern Rhône doesn't always have to evolve into a drinkable state, unless it does. This is wild, mineral, dense yet lithe with a unique structure that isn't defined by tannin. Hervé is the Semi Carbonic King of Syrah. While I love Gonon, Jamet, etc, I am inspired but Souhaut tremendously

Dec 19th, 2015Opened this to try teach NewWorld Syrah drinker the joys of Rhone Syrah & shot ourselves in the foot. 2014 nowhere near ready. Way too poky, tannins all up in your grill, hums like the back of a spice cupboard. I know it'll settle though, and it'll be joy when it does, as always.
