Although this Hervé Souhaut wine is made from the Gamay grape, it isn’t a Beaujolais. ☝️ Rather, it’s from the Rhône Valley of France, produced from land in the hills of the Northern Ardeche near the appellation of St. Joseph, which is famous for its Syrah-focused red wines. 🇫🇷 🍇

👁 This unfiltered and organically-produced wine is pale purple with pink rim variation and noticeable haze.

👃 On the nose this wine has a medium intensity of youthful aromas that include ripe red cherry, 🍒 bright raspberry, banana, wild strawberry, 🍓 dried lavender, cinnamon, crushed stone, and ever-so-delicate savory and meaty notes.

👄 On the palate this wine is dry; it has medium acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium intensity in youthful flavors consistent with the nose.

👏 This is the definition of an easy-drinking, gulpably delicious, and food-favorable wine. We are loving the layers of this wine that may be mistakable for a Beaujolais but for the delicate nuances most likely attributable its Rhône Valley provenance.

Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet, La Souteronne, 2018, 12.5% ABV, Vin de Pays, Rouge made from Gamay.

Thank you, @petervars @thomasliquors for the introduction to this producer. Excited to try the Syrah next time 👍

The best bottle of this I have had yet. Super clean and delicious. No mouse, which has always been the case in past bottles of this that I’ve had.
