Domaine Pral
Moulin-à-Vent Gamay
Blind # 1 of the day. I called Beaujolais, Morgon. Pretty pleased to get so close! very tasty: floral- violet, some tart cranberry, tiny red berries, hot money (nickels and bills). Big like.

Feb 7th, 2016The Morgon in the same producer was a hell of a lot better. $14 / 85

Oct 10th, 2013Another reminder, as if I need one, as to how superior French wines can be to just about any other place. I dare anyone to find a $20. Bottle of wine anywhere in the new world that has this level of finesse and complexity. Aromas of grilled cherries, charcoal, meats , and iron. Light bodied but full of nuanced facets. Expresses apples, cherries, raspberries, black minerals, iron filings. A true example of how terroir is the essential aspect of great wines.

Not bad, got some heft. Little dusty though.

Apr 23rd, 2016Tight the first day. Was expecting it to have sunk, but on the 2nd day it sang like a choir. Gorgeous violet, lavender, and raspberry aromatics. Tense acidity. Softer tannins than I expected for Moulin-a-Vent, but they are more mouth-coating than sharp. Would have 8.8'd the first day, but this opened up marvelously.
