Not incredibly complex but just an overwhelming delicious Pinot Noir. Great cherry and strawberry notes. Earth and mineral.

I am normally not a fan of this appellation but had this at a tasting some years back. In that moment, I saw some potential for a change. Not disappointed so far.

Nose has: candied, sweet & sour dark, floral black cherries, black plum, blackberries, mix of dry cranberries & pomegranates, blueberries bringing up the rear, moist forrest floor w/ dry leaves, dark spice, alluvial limestone minerals, dry top soil & brush, hint of mint, dark chocolate baking bar, licorice, mid berry cola, typical baking spices, ruby, candied; dark, red, purple & blue florals that have just started to wither.

The mouthfeel is lush with dry powdery tannins. Acidity could be a bit better, not awful though. Candied, sweet & sour dark, floral black cherries, black plum, blackberries, black raspberries, raspberries, mix of dry cranberries & pomegranates, blueberries bringing up the rear, moist forrest floor w/ dry leaves, deep, dark spice with just a touch of heat, incense, alluvial limestone minerals, gripping, grey, volcanics, dry top soil & brush, moist clay, hint of mint, dry sage, black leaning into white pepper, dark chocolate baking bar, caramel, dry mocha powder, licorice, mid berry cola, baking spices; nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, ruby, candied; dark, red, purple & blue florals that have just started to wither. The finish is ruby, rich, elegant, polished good yet, not stunning, falling on to herbs, earth and florals.

First experience with this wine and producer. Fantastic bottling and cru. Vineyard was originally a gift to a surgeon of Emperor Napolean's. Vines are 60yrs+ of age

This was poured blind for a few of us to guess. I went back and forth between burgundy or west coast...this is like a millennial with an old soul. A battle between herbal flair and ripe, rich fruits. Light and fairly small in the acidity. Rose petal, black cherry skin, clay. Very good.

Punches WAY above its $35 QPR weight. Nose of barnyard funk, wet forest floor, pipe tobacco with high tones black cherry. More fruit on the palate, deep dark black cherry and a bit of an almost vougeot-like kirsch leather and some nice spice. As it opens up, some of the earthiness blows off, leaving a strong rose petal nose with a hint of strawberry

Give it seven years but so much going on here.

Minimal fruit (dried/past picking time), focuses on leather, forest floor qualities. High acid tone - astringent in fact. Unbalanced. Past any prime that may have existed.

Soft, sexy, elegant wine. Ripe sweet to tart dark cherries, a little spice, earth and red roses.
