When people discuss haute couture, they often discuss the juxtaposition of the rigor required for the production and the lightness of the result. This is how I think about burgundies. Clearly, the makers have been vigorous in their approach to this wine. You can taste it. This rigor does not translate into density or lack of clarity, however, it leads to a fine-boned structure that is a delight. This is, by far, NOT the best burgundy that I've had, but what I love about burgundies is here in spades: the structure, the rigor, the delicacy, and the simultaneous strength. This is not jammy, this is not fruit forward. I would not describe it as "easy drinking," but it does go down very easily. This is a disciplined, structured, subtle wine that makes me remember why I could drink only wines from Burgundy, and be happy for the rest of my life.
