Much cooler & more savoury than the Chaponniere. Starts quite reductive & closed but after 1h shows herby freshness, light raspberries, fresh huckleberries, a light touch of mushroom & hint of mint.
On the palate this shows some weight, with firm yet juicy tannins, good depth, sappy acidity. This is more savoury and more ‚foody‘ vs the Chaponniere yet also more complex & with more character.
Both unmistakably Cote Chalonnaise.

May 21st, 2021Starting to understand what a “young” Pinot tastes like. Still loved this. Gravely nose. I swear I smelled tennis ball rubber. Great dark ripe red fruit early. Light to medium body. Med plus acid. Complex enough but I was expecting more. Lightly dry finish and pleasant low-impact tannin. Slight alcohol in chest immediately after. Decanted 2+ hours and back into bottle. Even better 16 hours later. I had the Premier Cru.
