Brilliant scarlet color. Heady, smoke- and spice-tinged red and dark berry aromas pick up floral and musky underbrush nuances with air. Concentrated yet energetic in style, the 2017 shows fine delineation and lift to its juicy cherry, strawberry and redcurrant flavors. Fine-grained tannins sneak in on a long, focused finish that features lingering bitter cherry, floral and baking spice note. I hate to invoke Jean-Nicolas Meo's home turf when it comes to talking about Oregon Pinot but, well, there you go. Aged in 22% new oak. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2020)
