Blanc Chorey-les-Beaune Chardonnay

Domaine Michel Gay et fils, Chorey-les-beaune blanc 2023.
First of the many bottles I brought back from Dijon. Good village Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune. It had been 4 years since my last white from there so I'm happy I brought back 3 of these. I wanted to open one after a week but the other 2 will stay in the cellar for a while.
Right out of the cellar at 10°C the wine was muted and it took some air and warming for it to start singing. There is hay, lemon, vanilla and tiny touch of fresh butter on the nose. The palate is rather acid driven and fresh and less broad and opulent than I expected it to be. The usual markers of chardonnay from this terroir are there: nice lemony notes, some vanilla and discreet butter on the mouthfeel, a bit of width, not much matter, some grip in the rear, a long finish with lemon, butter, some oak, some white pepper (?) And some vanilla. It goes on for about 35 seconds. At about 23 EUR bought directly from the estate it feels like a bargain in today's wine economy...
