2024/9/3-4. A refreshingly limpid, cranberry red. Flowers, red berries, evergreen forest and iron - Gevrey with a little lift. Sweet fruit and acid with a mineral spine on the palate, and again, limpid as opposed to opaque. Will today’s wines be like this in 5-10 years?

Sep 5th, 20242024/7/24-25. As an old fan of Maume via the KLWM connection, I’m predisposed towards this. It starts off very quiet, but the nose opens significantly over 30 minutes or so. It starts with red fruit, herbs and stone, but over time reveals darker fruit, iron and earth. The dense, powdery mouthfeel, layered fruit and grippy tannin shows this is still quite young and will probably improve for some time. Also, even I have to admit a (legacy) Maume Pallud may be more suited for cooler weather…
