Domaine Mathieu
Vin di Felibre D'Anseùme Mathieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape Mourvedre Blend
Another visit to the weekly Wednesday Wine Committee, and a wonderful hosting by Glenn. As always, all wines are tasted blind. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert.
This ended up being the oldest of 4 CdPs. I guessed all reds were CdP and went from youngest to oldest, both of which were correct. This showed more underripe red fruit, spicy rhubarb and black pepper.

From taste: cocoa on nose at first sniff, blows off to reveal powerful stone minerality, blackberry liqueur, red licorice and herbs. Sinewy in texture and intense concentration, mourvedre woodsiness apparent, long and rocky finale. Heat is well in check, good acidity and grippy tannin. Big midpalate. Good drop to poke away for 10 years!
