Opulent, rich and long. Top New Years eve wine.

Grandpa’s cologne. Like a great sauterne on the nose - honeyed and redolent of botrytis - but then the palate is, to my taste, overripe, boozy, syrupy and heavy. All the notes of spice, intrigue and complexity are swallowed up by the lack of acid and overzealous ripeness.

Dry, oxidized and extracted. Aromatics showing more austere Pinot Gris than Gewürztraminer.

This is a blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. More than anything, I picked up the Gewürztraminer very easily. Tons of lychee, honeycomb and underripe golden raisins. Age has given this a savory component of nougat and toffee. Surprised at the acidity here...no rush. Love quality Alsatian wines.

Yahoo!! Kind of metallic and closed on first day, lots more effusive character (cling peach, freesia, honey) on second. Need mooooooore
