Domaine Marc Morey
Champ Gain Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay
Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
Nose has stuck match, fresh cut yellow apple, cold pineapple, crushed granite, cold mango and dried oak plank.
Palate has semi-dried lemon, baked yellow apple, limestone infused mineral water, lemon pith with a medium-short finish.
Lacking some concentration, but still enjoyable, likely this might have been in peak form 4-5 years ago.

Totally closed and very tight on cork pull, light white fruits on initial nose. This bottle took over 3 hours to really come to life, then beautiful white flowers, hazelnut, green apple and flinty mineral on the nose. Similar experience on the palate but add a light honey note. The bottle was most expressive at room temperature.
We bought this bottle for a steal in 2008, compared to current prices, and carefully stored it all these years. It was great to share with friends and a wonderful meal. I paired with foie gras and a smoked salmon carbonara.
