Our dinner plans took a quick change when we received a call from our very fancy pants restaurant that the wine dinner (La Spinetta) was cancelled because the distributor didn't get them the wines...wtf, really? Our immediate back up was our favorite French bistro with the best comfort food one can ask for, delivered with precision every time, so consistent!
2016 Mercurey (Burgundy), drink it if you can still find it! A little hot on the nose initially, but subsided after an hour. Rich cherry and earth notes, solid bottle, just not overly complicated, great pairing with our braised veal in cream sauce. (I'd eat that, every night!)
