Viré-Clessé Chardonnay

A newly created estate of 27 acres based in the twin villages of Vire and Clesse. Pale lemon with aromas of white stone fruits, citrus, honey and nutty scents. On the palate tart apple, pear and lemon, crisp, lively acidity, medium length ending with mineral character. Drink now, no aging benefit.

Total wine Fla: suffers from the ‘ meh’ Saranty Import wine dynamic. None really pop or allure. Not bad, for sure.

Decent.. I think it was nice, but lacking depth and complexity that I prefer in Burg white. Simple, but elegant. Pineapples, butter, hazelnut, and green pear to the finish. Creamy feel, medium weight. Would be good for a party if there were shrimp and crabcake apps.

Not bad, but not great either. Candied pineapple, buttered popcorn, and touch of peach. Smooth, but not really lively. Let's just say It's a serviceable chardonnay.

Laurent Gondard is the 3rd generation of winemakers on this estate. After 22 years with the cooperative, he created his own estate in 2007. The domain has 11 hectares located on villages of Vire-Clesse of Maconnais.

I love this chard. Very crisp and clean with melon, slight apple, and honey. Very nice.

Delicious. Fruit forward, not as dry as expected but delicious

Rich minerals on the pallet with an essence of peach and lemon curd.

Ripe apples and cooked pears. A little chalky minerality, and soft acidity. Stronger acidity would probably make it a little better with food. Still it was pretty good with roasted tuna and vegetables. This is the first time I’ve tried this appellation, I think the store display said it’s a pretty new one.
