Rustic in nature yet with a cheerful personality of delicate flowers and fruits. Shows an authentic terroir of iron and stone and while right now will continue to be pleasant down the road.

Le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras has long been a favorite of mine. The 2012, however, is admittedly too young (a condition complicated by my lack of a wine cellar where I'm currently staying). On the upside, delicate floral notes of lilac and violets lend a softening note to an otherwise masculine wine. There are, too notes of black cherries, blackberries, incense, sandalwood and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, with good concentration and power, there is an iron ore note that leaves the finish metallic-seeming.

When this opens it softens beautifully. High alcohol but not to much to overpower fruit. Herbaceous and heady. Just very solid for Fall.

This is classic sang de cailloux. Like cherry raspberry with some mid palate minerality this wine is amazing. Mostly Grenache this has soft tannins and is a versatile wine..... You def can see limestone soil influence.

It changes remarkably from open to an hour. I'm no expert, but it tasted delicious with my steak. 18, 50 €
