Big exuberant nose. Soppy bright red cherries. Mid to late season. Loads of earth, moss and minerals underneath. Spice and florals as well after air. Palate is insanely juicy and dense but with next level freshness and depth. Fruit has energy for days. So pure and deep. Loads of tiny berry cherry intensity fruits here. A great 1er Cru Monthelie. Very exciting. Love this level for 2018 for now and for cellaring. Mouth coating and ripe tannins but also smothered and enclosed with minerals which also provide freshness. Epic. Drink now through 2038 or so. An ager but a great drink every day along the way.

Glorious nose. I love this 1er Cru. Red or white. Gorgeous cherry fruit, licorice and spice. Alluring mineral. Floral. Beguiling and hypnotizing nose. Juicy and also structured and tannic with exquisite balance and purity. 17 is so good and correct. Red fruits galore and superb depth. Earthy sweetness and wonderful hint of that Monthelie earthiness. Love sap and length. Just an awesome wine.

With air nose comes alive! Wow. Sour cherry and insane cherry spice complexity. Perfumed. This is so good. Stunning sappy and sweet fruit.

This was all out of sorts yesterday. Today it has a gorgeous nose of cherry fruit with a lipstick like intensity and loads of rocky minerals. Lovely spice and mint. Truly a great nose. Full of juicy fruit and luscious ripe tannins. From an ugly duckling to a swan overnight.

Man I love 2018. Huge pungent lipstick like fruit. Gorgeous mid to late season red and black cherries. Stunning. Such purity and aromatic depth. Has a gamey depth as well. Palate just has “crank it up” fruit. Juicy, dense, complex and full of big ripe velvety tannins. Amazing density and purity. What a finish. This is so epic. Such tiny berry fruit intensity. So good. Amazing concentration. Long, succulent, tangy and sappy. So fresh and energetic. Long. What a version of this. Sickness!

Awesome nose. Big cherry fruit. Like a cherry lipstick. So so aromatic. That 2015 sunshine is on display. Loads of spice and wet earth. Gorgeous. Palate is juicy and full of tiny berry fruit enveloped by wet leaves, minerals and earth. Very juicy and terrific balance. Fresh and fruity like the best 15’s are. Has guts to age 10-12 years. Superb.

A 1er Cru that is a sleeper but really rocks. Big cherry nose. Licorice and such dazzling bright cherry fruit. Mid season and ripe. Raspberry. So alluring and precise. Palate is elegant and sweet with terrific freshness and purity. Lovely sweet fruit but buffered by terrific minerality and spice. Really terrific 15.

Needs an hour to open up and for the faint hint of wood to integrate. Then wow. Super juicy dark fruits with a lovely strain of licorice. An intense wine (see 2015) for a burgundy. Almost a change of pace wine it’s so intense for a burg. Hints of violet internal aromatics. Finish is sparkly almost tart and lip coating. Loooong finish. If this wine evolves to be as good on the palate as it is on the finish it will be exceptional. Almost cornaslike this year. This producer is a double threat (red and white). It’s a producer to watch. Bought from Fass Selections.

Nose is dense. Blackberry lipstick. Some licorice.

Palate is dark cherry some spice and licorice. As it opens some plum. A hint of acidity.

It has that lip smacking fruit quality of the boussey 16s.

These are more food wines in 2016. Great fruit and delicious but not hugely contemplative.
