Roc Epine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

Surprised how fresh this was upon opening. With air the fruit began to take a back seat to baked earth, herbs, smoke, and leathery accents. Palate is upfront with black fruit that leads into spice and herbal notes. Time in bottle has helped calm the tannins making them open and elegant.

This is showing really well now. Lovely bouquet coupled with density and silky tannins. Lovely texture that was too easy to drink. Plums, leather, garrigue, spice, mushrooms, compote, sweet herbs.

Pretty good, pretty big. Too expensive though for the taste.

One of my favorite wines. Purchased this at Costco in 2014...good luck to me trying to find another. Nice, smooth, light tannins. Has some pepper to it but strong dark berries are at the forefront. Enjoyed this with grilled ribeye.

Very nice and easy drinking wine. A lot of blackberries, plums and a slight bit of earth/meat type of notes. Very smooth with a long finish.

Lafond Chateauneuf du Pape Roc-Epine is a deep red fruited, elegant wine. Predominantly Grenache (80%), Syrah (10%), Mourvèdre (10%).
The Syrah gives a very nice spicy twist. Overall dense, dark plum and spice. Very enjoyable!

Bday dinner
