Domaine La Bouïssiere
Gigondas Red Rhone Blend
Great QPR. Rich aromatics, berries and leather and cherries and truffles. A bit hot on the palate, but good fruit, long finish, slight alcohol bitter burn, but overall a quality CdR.

Feb 23rd, 2024Saturated ruby-red. The highly expressive bouquet conveys vibrant, mineral- and spice-accented red and blue fruits, candied flowers and succulent herbs aromas. Gently chewy and incisive boysenberry, bitter cherry and fresh bay flavors deepen and become sweeter with air. The floral note recurs on a very long, mineral finish that's framed by subtly gripping, fine-grained tannins. Made with 39% whole clusters and raised in a 65/35 mix of neutral oak foudres and concrete tanks. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023)

Jan 20th, 2023Vivid ruby. The bouquet is made of ripe red berries, cherry and lavender aromas, along with subtle licorice and white pepper flourishes. Broad, fleshy and appealingly sweet, showing juicy raspberry, cherry-cola and baking spice flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. Closes long and smooth, with discreet tannins and a strong floral note. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023)

Jan 20th, 2023In a good spot. Tannins are losing some grip, the ‘16 vintage profile is still vibrant, there’s some more length developing.

May 11th, 2022Certainly gaining some more flesh with its fruit, the last year has been generous. There’s still great energy and vivacious texture here, fresh and full of Gigondas minerality. Ripe black berry and cherry fruit, blood orange, baked rocks, garrigue, loads of lavender, a nice reduction bringing about undertones of iron and meat.

Nov 19th, 2020Started strong with a lovely profile of Christmas spices, strawberry coulis, a touch prune, leather and cinnamon. Unfortunately with air some strong DMS character developed and overtook the wine. Still a top notch producer IMO, most likely vintage/storage issue. Other ‘07s from Bouissiere were stellar despite the heat of the vintage.

Dec 15th, 2019Killer. True to place on so many levels. Archetypal for me in terms of appellation and mineral background. Tight, young, but the potential is certainly there. The spine and edge ‘16 has in the the S.Rhône continues to impress.

Aug 3rd, 2019So solid. A touch young, wild, full of character, but carries charm throughout. Want to revisiting
