Domaine Georges Vernay
Saint-Joseph Syrah
St. Joseph, Northern Rhône, Rhône, France

2007 vintage. Nose showing Garrigue, meaty notes with a little dry cherry and pepper. Love these Northern Rhone reds. Hitting the sweet spot by drinking now. More cellaring means more savoury and less fruit.

Really bright, spicy, and peppery, and a bit too much oak. Tastes like @elementwinery 2011 syrah, with the same good stuff...and bad...

Notes of Liquorice and white pepper. Medium weight at best but this is a wine style I enjoy. Similar to Bests 2011 Bin 1 which won the Jimmy Watson trophy. Langhi Ghiran and Clonakilla supercede the St Joseph in the same genre. 17.5.

Lovely nose with fruit, savoury and subtle oak - good balance of tannin and fruit - travelling well at 7 years - will leave next one for a couple more years
