Pepper, spice and lemon on the nose, citrus, pear. Drier and less buttery than most Chardonnay I've had.

Overview

The vineyard of Clos St Jean is probably more famous for its red wines but here, Richard Fontaine has made something quite exceptional. The aromas are fine and clean, open and certainly give an idea of what's going to happen on the palate. There it is rich and full flavoured whilst retaining great elegance, the fruit is ripe and clean with the oak being superbly integrated and the mineral notes that are evident giving the wine a further dimension. A big finish stays on the palate well and allows the minerality to develop which in turn will make it a wonderful food partner. A truly exceptional wine.
