Domaine E.C. (Emile Cheysson)
Clos les Farges Chiroubles Gamay
2015 really is a wild vintage. I would not have expected this kind of inky, dense core and intense tannin structure at such a modest 12.5% ABV. This vineyard obviously had no trouble getting ripe. It’s hard to say whether it got just a little too hot or whether the wine needs another couple years. Given the low alcohol I’m leaning towards the latter. Big, beautiful berry fruit, red rose and quite a persistent minerality. All the components are there, just a few rough contours on the palate right now.

Dec 28th, 2018Wonderful. Beaujolais crus? Never had one before. Elevation between 800-1500ft and cool microclimate. Not sure what that means. Raspberries, cherries, light acidity. Need more of this in my life.

Nov 1st, 2020Summer elegant nose of black cherry, ripe black berry, roses. Light body and acid. Great with light red meat, charcuterie, or even salmon or smoked seafood. Notes: From the Chiroubles region of Beaujolais in Burgundy. Chiroubles come from some of the highest altitude vineyards in Burgundy. Low tannin, light bodied, often with a bouquet of violets. Gamay grapes.
