Domaine du Gros' Noré
Bandol Mourvedre Blend Rosé
A little earthy and brooding but it’s got that mid-palate zip of sunshine and flowers. Love me some Bandol.

May 2nd, 2022Surprisingly quaffable Bandol rosé... the edgy Mourvèdre notes are here, blood orange rind, garrigue, bright acidity. But the balancing blend introduces softer melon notes that makes this more accessible on release than other Bandols I’ve tried (Tempier, etc), and at a 30% discount as well. Nice!

Sep 15th, 2020Vivid orange-pink. Blood orange, nectarine and red currant qualities on the expressive, mineral-driven nose. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering intense red berry and citrus pith flavors that slowly flesh out as the wine opens up. Shows excellent clarity and breadth on the very long, floral-tinged finish, which leaves a juicy pit fruit note behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, August 2019)

Aug 15th, 2019On the nose; lightly perfume pink roses, spring wild flowers, lean fruits with a slight gummy bear character, strawberries, watermelon near the rhine, cherries, candied red apple, orange citruses, beautiful chalkiness, strong volcanic minerals and sea spray.
The body is full, round, thick and a touch gluey. Lean fruits with a slight gummy bear character, strawberries, watermelon near the rhine, cherries, candied red apple, orange citruses, beautiful chalkiness, volcanic minerals and sea spray with lightly perfume pink roses, spring wild flowers. The acidity is round and full. The finish is well polished...thick, gluey and waxy. It’s elegant and very easy to drink. The only thing that I struggle with this wine is the minerality is a bit heavy for my tastes. It’s gritty minerals dig deep into the palate on the long finish. But, I still appreciate it as it’s a good contrast to other Bandol Rosés. Like, Tempier and Chateau Pibarnon Bandol etc..
Photos of, Domaine Gris du Nore and grounds, their field hands harvesting, tasting room and the most amazing field of Lavender I’ve seen.

7 days of sunsets and at least 8 bottles of rose’.....this week was a good one on both accounts. A super dependable mineral driven, herbal, melon and fresh cut nectarine rose’....consistently solid on several bottles I had this week.

Aug 4th, 2018The nose flexes it's minerality muscles right away, while also bringing white cherry, white peach, unripe strawberries still on the vine, and white pepper. Doesn't quite prepare you for the unruly palate. A spice bomb, layered with white/unripe fruits and M+ finish of acidity. A wolf in sheeps clothing.
