Domaine de la Tour du Bon
Bandol Mourvedre Blend
Smells amazing and perfumed. Strong notes of lavender, savory, and other provincial herbs mixed with a slight note of match heads. Slightly gamey with hints of dark fruit. This is by the original producer who helped carve out Bandol as an AOC of its own. 100% de-stemmed and aged in giant foudres for 18 months. Gritty on the tongue, highly acidic and woody with musky, bloody notes that subtly remind one of Syrah. This wind could use some more fruit and better integration, but it doesn't lack for character and smacks instantly of Mourvèdre. There's some bitter citrus pith and a hint of pepper on the finish.
