Domaine de La Grange
Édition Castalides Syrah-Grenache Noir Blend
2012 vintage of syrah/mourvèdre; Very dark purple-red color; robust red and dark fruits and strength on the nose, perhaps some liquorice; on the palate alcohol is high, typical for the region (reminisc. CNdP), elegant, dominated by blackberries, long finish, but midpalate is a bit two-dimensional, doesn't fill out the mouth. Dark, elegant great with pata negra dried tenderloin. Btw: Parker gave -11 vintage 94p! 2 hours later: darker still w/ interesting notes of dried dark fruits, olives and almonds. Cool evolution!

Dark, elegant. Does not stand out but does not have to. Not very modern in that sense. But who can hold it against it when its so good.

Edition -13, a powerful and balanced wine with a lot of red berries and vanilla character.
