Sep 30th, 2017Beautiful, dark colour, but a disappointment overall. A little too much acid throws it out of balance. Chocolate and forest floor on the nose. Smooth tannins. A bit of unpleasant petrol on the palate.
It either aged poorly or this is a case of poor judgement when we tasted at the winery last year.

Location is Nova Scotia. Has a fresh fruit of blueberry and flows into Merlot strawberry with hint of heat from white pepper in the finish. As is the common NS wines, backend acidity which robs the wine of a better score. I would only recommend this with BBQ Rib Eye or pulled pork with Sweet Baby Rays sauce to counter acidity. Not recommend with lean meats.#goingcastel#novascotiawines

Taste: very dry and tart, yet fruity, cherries and cranberries again, chocolate and coffee.
