The 1997 had a far color and small variation from the rim. The wine showed so beautiful, high tone berry fruit and great acid, just an enjoyable wine

Hello, old friend. Juniper berry, fermented plum, sage. Bursting aromas. Good length driven by firm tannins.

Aug 14th, 2016Ripe cranberry, lemongrass, shaved carrot. Longest progression of burgundy/Pinot I've tried. Gripping tannins seduce one into submission. Certainly not the imitation of greatness but the thing itself!

Surprisingly fresh and good acid for a '97. Jeremiah pegged it as Vogüé right off the bat. We were all way off on vintage. Thanks for the blind taste, Scott!

1997 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately, after 30 mins and after 2 hours. Threw a little sed but not much. Cinnamon, straw, rhubarb and strawberry on the nose. Light-medium body. Good focus and concentration throughout the tasting gauntlet; finishing with a couplet of dust and earth. Not improving but likely to hold the line for an additional 3-4 years. Love isn't always on time. No. No. No. 10.22.23.

This is not a stellar vintage and took some time to open up. I would decant in the future. Very rich and powerful though. Started with smokey notes that opened to nice red fruit profile.
