Domaine Brusset
Les Hauts de Montmirail Gigondas Red Rhone Blend
Deep, glass-clinging red purple with near black core. Peppery boysenberry rules the abundant nose. Echoed on the full-bodied palate along with ashen leather (leathery ash?) and black cranberry. Juicy medium acidity. Medium plus, non-aggressive tannins. A classic Gigondas from a world class producer of same. Hearty winter and early spring fare (I’m having pot roast) will shine, but feel free to let this upscale your cookout! Drink now through 2030.

Mar 2nd, 2022Dark purple. Vibrant, highly perfumed red and blue fruit, floral and incense aromas pick up exotic spice and cracked pepper flourishes with aeration. Plush and expansive in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet boysenberry, cherry and violet pastille flavors that show no rough edges. Becomes livelier on the wonderfully long, lively finish, which features resonating florality and harmonious tannins. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Wow. I'm in love with this wine. Super young, in need of many years, but it shows that Gigondas ain't nothin to mess around with.

Dec 11th, 2018Wow. Never expected an 88 gigondas to be this lively and round. Called it a 02 Cote Rotie. Blood and meat with a floral and saline finish.
