The 2015 Irancy Cuvée Louis Bersan, which is aged in 35% new oak, has an attractive bouquet of well-defined cranberry, wild strawberry and briar scents. The palate is well balanced, displaying fine tannin and a lovely marine influence with hints of brine toward a finish that fans out wonderfully. Superb. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting. Near crazy vivacity of super-fresh, springtime red fruits. Nothing at all lazy about this acidity, which brings freshness to the fore and leaves the pleasantly, lightly grainy tannins well behind in structure. Crunchy and highly gluggable, even if it most certainly deserves a place at the table!
