Domaine Auguste Clape
Le Vin des Amis Syrah
Clape: sweaty, cloudy, Brett mess. Time has not been good to you old friend.
Lapalu: a “cleaner” take on sweaty-Brett mess lol. Hard to argue with that deep juicy and structured Brouilly fruit and kiss of herbs. Nice to have a Lapalu wine in my glass been too long.

This wine floored me. Typical Northern Rhone bouquet and palate with a Chateauneuf-du-Pape finish due to vineyard being river stones. Clape is the King

Nov 27th, 2015Corked unfortunately and no rating. I hope the Cornas and Renaissance bought at the same time don’t suffer the same fate.

Jun 30th, 20212014. Ready to go. Shows plenty of power, but the structure has largely integrated. More plum & blackberry than the smoky/savory character I notice with Clape. Very nice, especially with roast chicken, but again, glad to have enjoyed now.

Oct 17th, 2018Great match for Katz's Pastrami sandwich and sipping during a lazy afternoon. Just plain fun wine in a bojo sort of way. Bright fruit is the headliner with a touch of herbs and earth as the supporting cast. Had a touch of barnyard upon popping but that blew off with an hour decanting. Saved some for leftovers; got kept the band together.
