Not as bright & forward as most D&Rs, was almost closed until decanting. Nice aromatics and an earthiness that says more time in the cellar is in order.

Best D&R wine I've had, most have been riddled with flaws to the point of questionable (inattentive winemaking). And I like funky wines. This had nice bright fruit and real depth of flavor. This example makes me want to try more.

An aromatic floral nose on first pour with dark fruit on the palate with obvious structure from the stems. With a little air the limestones Antle is known for start to emerge. A very dry finish that then puts me in a happy place. Next bottle would be fun to pair with some food.

Yummy! Love the grape and this is a fun, very drinkable presentation. Plummy, black cherry, medium bodied. Very clean style.

Nice concentration with just a touch of Mouvedre funk. Love Chalone.

Mourvèdre from Monterey County, Chalone AVA. Deep, dark blue, ripe blue fruits. Showing well now but could cellar & improve w/ age. Good luck finding. Only 90 cases bottled!

When you're tasting with the winemaker and then he hands you the bottle to take home, how can this be nothing more than sublime.
