My first taste of the 2016 vintage. Step up from previous years. Less fruit than the typical Napa profile.

Very nice. It could be great if it had a touch more at the end, but this is still quite nice. Just 25 cases made. David and Katharine DeSante should be pleased.

This was absolutely lovely. Even after 7 years it needed 2 hours to open up but man, it was in a sweet spot. It's probably time to drink this now, maybe in the next 2 years at least. Supple stewed black fruits, sweet tobacco, decaying violets, dusty earth, and sweet cherry to the finish. Tannins were supple and soft, and I personally like the alcohol at 14.1% because it makes it elegant and comfortable to drink. Might just have to get some more of this one...

I bit of a fruit bomb for Napa cab. It was good nice balance. I just expected it to be a little dryer

Approachable, but complex. Lighter than the typical Napa Cab which really makes this sing. David DeSante might just be the smartest winemaker in Napa.

So, I found this app on my phone and I thought I would try it out ;). What can I say about this one? The average 9.1 rating is pretty solid. I would give it a little bit more though. 10 years old, Oakville, rather right on the money. Definitely not your dark blackberry 'napacab'. Has more red fruits... Raspberry, black cherry, a little bit of binf cherry, a little bit of herb, brambly. kind of felt like I was chewing on tree bark, but I think that was still the oak tannin that was surprisingly still present towards the finish. At 10 years, nothing seems to be precipitating out of this one. Really nice acidity from front to finish. Medium plus bodied. This is the only one I have of this particular wine. Can hold another 5 to 7 years with proper cellaring I think.
